It was so much fun to tag along with a fellow local Portland wedding photographer on this St Johns wedding! The Colony was the back drop for the entire day. This venue was full of character, texture, and visual interest. On top of all that the main building has to offer, outside is a collection of vintage trailers that made for a fun backdrop for bridal photos! Did I mention it was NYE? What a beautiful way to bring in the new year.
We started the day in the bridal suite capturing the bride getting ready, and all the fun details. Her bouquet was lush and beautiful with a relaxed organic shape. It was the perfect compliment to her dress which was understated and elegant. Beneath that beautiful dress were these fun, sparkly Kate Spade keds. Her style was a perfect blend of elegance and simplicity with a touch of playfulness (those shoes!).
Once the bride and groom finished getting ready we took them outside for some portraits of just the two of them. It was a bitter cold day! luckily we were able to use the vintage trailer The Colony has on site. This made for an intimate and fun backdrop for bride and groom portraits. The signing of the ketubah came next, and then the intimate evening ceremony. The bride and groom were flanked by a beautiful swag of greenery and candlelight.
Finally, the traditional breaking of the glass which signaled the end of the ceremony, and the beginning of the party. Toasts, laughter, good food, and lots of dancing. It was a memorable affair filled with warmth. Extra special thanks to Portland Wedding Photographer Jamie Jones for having me along to second shoot with her. We had so much fun shooting together (and posing for shots in the photobooth!)
Oh my gosh, Jana! Just when I think I’ve seen your best work, you go and amaze me with something like this. The way you capture weddings so intimately is beyond beautiful. I love that shot of the couple with the flag behind them. Took my breath away as I came across it. Beautiful work!
